How is encephalitis transmitted?

Encephalitis B is a zoonotic disease of natural foci. Many animals (such as pigs, cattle, horses, sheep, poultry, bats, etc.) can become the source of infection of this disease. According to the study, pigs are the main host of Japanese encephalitis virus, Culex, Aedes and Anopheles can transmit Japanese encephalitis, and Culex tritaeae is the main vector of Japanese encephalitis virus, which constitutes a pig → mosquito → pig or human transmission link.

Among them, pigs, which are closely related to humans, are the main source of infection, and pigs will not directly transmit Japanese encephalitis virus to humans and must be transmitted by mosquitoes. Japanese encephalitis virus first infects pigs. Mosquitoes bite pigs and carry Japanese encephalitis virus. After mosquitoes with Japanese encephalitis virus bite people, the virus enters the human body, first proliferates in the mononuclear-phagocyte system, and then enters the blood circulation to form viremia. Through the blood-brain barrier, it invades the central nervous system and causes brain parenchymal lesions. A wide range of lesions can affect the entire central nervous system, causing serious harm to the human body.
