First of all, Chen Qiulan, an associate researcher of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and prevention, shared the situation and elimination strategy of rabies in China. Globally99% of human rabies cases are caused by dog injuries, so dog immunization is a core strategy to eliminate canine-transmitted rabies. The experience of the international community is mainly to do a good job in dog management and dog immunization. The coverage rate of dog immunization reaches 70%, which can block the transmission of rabies among dogs. Suspected rabies exposure after timely standardized disposal is the second line of defense. The overall rabies epidemic in Shandong Province showed a downward trend, with small fluctuations.In 2020, Shandong Province reported 0 cases, becoming one of the 10 provinces with zero reports of rabies in the country.
